What is MARCO?

MARCO is a low-code' platform and ecosystem that simplifies digital transformation by enabling companies to develop and deploy digital solutions with minimum efforts and resources. This low-code platform accelerates the time to value - the time it takes to a deliver an application to market.
MARCO brings together blockchain technologies in one place, connecting multiple ledgers simultaneously. It also powers 'no-code' applications which helps businesses realise value.

What are the typical use cases for enterprises using MARCO?

Finboot clients use MARCO in several different ways and applied for a variety of use cases. Some customers leverage the power of the low-code platform to power their own digital solutions and legacy systems with blockchain functionality with minimum efforts and resources. Other customers use MARCO for its No-code applications: TRACK & TRACE, BLOCKSTAMP and SRM, our applications are designed to cover the most common use cases for enterprise blockchain, including supply chain digitalisation and workflow automation, document management and reconciliation, and supplier relationships and communications.

Do I need to be a blockchain specialist to use MARCO?

No, one of the biggest benefits of MARCO is that it facilitates and accelerates the adoption of blockchain. Business users with no IT training are configuring and introducing our No-code apps into their daily operations without writing a single line of code. While IT teams can leverage the value of our Low-code platform to bring blockchain functionality to external digital solutions without the need for blockchain-specific technical training.

How can I invite users to MARCO?

You can invite users to your MARCO organization through the MARCO Console. You can learn more about this in our MARCO Console first steps course in the MARCO Academy.

Is MARCO a cloud service? Is it multi-tenant or dedicated?

MARCO is a fully-cloud and mostly multi-tenant service. Some of the MARCO resources and applications can be single-tenant depending on customer requirements, but still Cloud. We do not provide on-premise deployments of MARCO. In some specific implementations, limited MARCO plug-ins or additional modules may be deployed in the customer’s cloud.

Who is its owner of the data and where is stored?

Your data in our services is always controlled and owned by you. Admin users have full control on how to store and share their data including data that is verified by a blockchain network and/or part of a digital asset. We have strong permission layers that allow users to configure how they want their data to be managed at the No-code, Low-code and blockchain level.

Is there an on-premise version of the services?

We are committed to provide our clients with continuous improvements on features and functionalities without incurring additional costs and with an optimum time-to-value. For this reason, we do not offer an on-premise version of our services.

Can clients choose the hosting region for MARCO services?

Yes. Our standard offering is hosted in Google cloud European data centres. However, customers may request their services to be hosted in a different geography.

What is Blockchain?

A blockchain is a tamper-proof ledger where data is stored in a series of interlinked “blocks.” As opposed to traditional databases, a blockchain is managed by a network of decentralised computers that follow special rules to verify and register data in the form of transactions or operations.

Unlike traditional systems, a blockchain can offer strong trust guarantees, embedded using cryptography and game theory in their algorithms. This characteristic unlocks the capacity of blockchain to disintermediate operations; enabling organisations and their digital services to interact in a shared ecosystem that is not owned or controlled by any one party.

What type of blockchain are you using? Is it public or private?

One of MARCO’s strongest technological advantages is that it’s been designed as a blockchain agnostic platform. This means that MARCO brings blockchain technologies under one roof and allows its users to focus on business solutions that will seamlessly interact with any underlaying blockchain network or ledger technology. This means users can deploy applications any number of networks which may different topologies. With MARCO you can work in any blockchain from a private permissioned network to a public permissionless one and anything in between.

What blockchain is being used for Smart Contracts?

Our Smart Contracts engine is another one of MARCO’s key technological features. Similarly, to our capacity to provide clients with multiple blockchain networks and technologies, we also provide for them a repository of Smart Contract templates with specifications ready to be deployed in your network of choice. You can also register your own Smart Contracts with MARCO should you prefer to deploy your own code. MARCO will handle everything from compilation, testing, validation and deployment, truly bringing the value of Low-code to our users.

Can MARCO work with other DLTs than blockchain?

Yes, our blockchain agnostic designed expands to other Distributed Ledger Technologies (DLTs), for example Corda, these are technologies that share many of the characteristics of blockchain (distributed, immutable, cryptographically secured, etc.), but do not store data in the form of “blocks.” When we say MARCO is blockchain agnostic, we refer to it in the broader sense of the word, meaning it includes such DLTs as well.

What blockchain technology does MARCO use?

One of MARCO’s unique selling points is its interoperability. MARCO has been built with a blockchain agnostic designed, meaning it can aggregate and connect any underlying blockchain network or ledger technology. This means customers are not stuck with their initial choice of network or ledger technology. They can focus on their business needs and configuring the business workflows, knowing that if a change of network is required in the future, their applications and configuration will not be compromised. What is Track & Trace?

TRACK & TRACE is one of MARCO’s ready-made No-code applications. It is a workflow automation and traceability solution for supply chains. Among other things TRACK & TRACE can help enterprise gather product data from suppliers and customers, enabling a fully connected end-to-end supply chain. Among some of the client use cases of TRACK & TRACE include: Digital product passports, Product and material provenance, Product and material chain of custody, and Product and material certifications.

How can I and who can access my MARCO Applications?

MARCO’s No-code applications bring the power of blockchain to the hands of any business user. You can configure your ecosystem and get started on using blockchain in several use cases without writing a single line of code. MARCO makes businesses more efficient both internally and throughout its supply chains. MARCO greatly improves management of value chains and drives forward digitalisation, sustainability and ESG agendas. Can the system work with a physical traceability system?

Yes, MARCO has been proven to interact with IoT ecosystems which strengthen the reliability of our traceability ecosystems. We have partners in the IoT ecosystems but are also open to work with other players in the ecosystem. Additionally the MARCO platform an ecosystem also works with integrations to other legacy systems such as ERPs, Finance software, and other enterprise software solutions.
